Historic Pavli Fair Opens Its Doors to Visitors for the 116th Time
The event, maintained since the Ottoman era and bearing the distinction of being Thrace's only surviving fair, will last for four days in Kırklareli.
The traditional Autumn Livestock and Commodity Fair, kept alive since the reign of Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II in Kırklareli's Pehlivanköy district, opened its doors for the 116th time this year, beginning to welcome visitors between September 10 and 13, 2026.
Opening Ceremony of the Historic Event
The traditional Autumn Livestock and Commodity Fair, known as the Pavli Fair, held for the 116th time this year in Kırklareli's Pehlivanköy district, began with colorful scenes.
The ceremony held at Zübeyde Hanım Square started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, followed by performances by the mehter band, folk dance troupes, and marching bands.
Protocol Participation and Speeches
Kırklareli Governor Uğur Turan, members of parliament, mayors, and numerous citizens attended the opening ceremony.
Pehlivanköy Mayor Gündüz Hoşgör expressed his satisfaction with the increase in the number of tradespeople, while Governor Uğur Turan emphasized that the fair contributes to the regional economy.
Activities Featured at the Fair
At the fair, where locals camp out by creating home environments in the beds of tractors and pickup trucks, regional delicacies and handicrafts are exhibited.
Throughout the four-day and four-night event, folk dances, concerts, and amusement parks offer entertaining moments to visitors.
