Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü shared the district's tourism vision at the Muğla Destination Session held in Istanbul and announced that they aim to spread tourism across all 12 months of the year.
Muğla Destination Session Held
The Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Destination Session was held in Istanbul, moderated by Ahmet Aras, President of the Coastal Aegean Municipalities Union and Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality.
Mayors Spoke at the Session
In addition to Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü, Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci, Didim Mayor Hatice Gençay, and Ayvalık Mayor Mesut Ergin also spoke at the session.
Goal of Qualified Tourism and Long Stays
Stating that they have changed Marmaris's tourism approach, Ünlü expressed that they target more qualified visitors with higher spending capacity and longer stay durations.
Sports Tourism Potential
It was stated that Marmaris has significant potential in terms of sports tourism alongside sea tourism, and attention was drawn to swimming, canoeing, rowing, sailing, running, and cycling branches.
Sustainability and Natural Capital
Emphasizing that sustainability is critical for the future of tourism, Ünlü stated that Marmaris's most important value is its natural structure and noted that they cannot grow by consuming.
Marmaris as a Living City
Noting that they want to position Marmaris not only as a tourism center but also as a living city, Ünlü expressed that they aim to carry out this process together with tourism stakeholders.
