New regulatory preparation for children's use of digital platforms

Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that new measures are being taken regarding children's use of digital platforms. According to the announcement, it is planned to log in to digital platforms via e-Government and to separate game content according to the 15-18 age group.

Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced that they are working on comprehensive new regulations regarding children's use of digital platforms.

It was stated that with the new regulation being prepared, logging into digital platforms via e-Government is envisioned and the system will not require data sharing.

Effects of children's digital habits

Pointing out that children spend more than 3.5 hours on average daily on social media platforms, Minister Göktaş touched upon the risks posed by this situation.

In the evaluations made, it was stated that social media use disrupts sleep patterns, leads to depression and anxiety, and reduces concentration rates.

Gaming platforms and age groups

While a new regulation for gaming platforms is planned to be issued, it is aimed to separate content for the 15-18 age group within the scope of the planned regulations.

With these studies carried out by the Ministry, it is aimed for children to spend time more safely in digital environments and to reduce the difficulties experienced by families.
