Championship Secured in Budapest
American athlete Masai Russell finished at the top of the 100-meter hurdles race with a time of 12.22 seconds at the event held in Hungary's capital, Budapest.
Leaving Competitors Behind
Taking the lead over the final hurdles, Russell surged past her closest competitors to cross the finish line first. Former Nigerian world record holder Tobi Amusan placed second with 12.34, while European champion Nadine Visser finished third in 12.39.
Fourteenth Victory of the Season
This triumph marked the successful athlete's fourteenth victory of the season. Russell also achieved the feat of running under 12.30 seconds for the ninth time this year.
Rewriting the 2023 Story
Having crashed out in the semi-finals of the World Championships held on the same track three years ago, Russell left her past disappointment behind and rewrote her story by becoming the Ultimate champion at the very same venue.
Fierce Competition in the Race
Although world indoor record holder Devynne Charlton started the race strongly, she hit the seventh hurdle and dropped to fourth place. The semi-finals and heats also featured intense competition, with Danielle Williams and Rayniah Jones narrowly missing out on the final.
