Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu made important assessments during the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Preparedness session held during the opening week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Stating that pandemics are a shared responsibility for global health security, Memişoğlu expressed that the challenges experienced can only be overcome through collective action and international cooperation.
Turkey's Pandemic Process and Aid
Emphasizing that Turkey successfully managed the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to its strong healthcare infrastructure, Minister Memişoğlu noted that citizens' uninterrupted access to medical treatment was ensured.
In addition, pointing out the importance of international solidarity, he stated that unconditioned medical assistance was provided to countries in need throughout the process.
Emphasis on Gaza and Humanitarian Values
Touching upon the situation in Gaza in his speech, Minister Memişoğlu stated that global health security cannot be spoken of in a world where people cannot access vaccines and essential medicines.
Memişoğlu called on all nations to unite around common humanitarian values.
