Comprehensive health services from İzmir Metropolitan Municipality
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality shared its wide range of services, from preventive health and early childhood support to psychological counseling.
On the occasion of Public Health Week, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality shared its work in preventive health, early childhood support, psychological counseling, nutrition, and dental health with the public.
Public Health and Preventive Training
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality carries out comprehensive studies within the body of the Department of Health Affairs in order to prevent diseases and support healthy living habits. In the first eight months of the year, more than 13,000 citizens participated in training sessions held in 30 districts under the headings of preventive health, first aid, oral and dental health, and mental health.
Early Childhood and Family Support
Within the scope of the İzmir95 Project for early childhood, services supporting the development of families and children continued uninterrupted throughout the year. While 3,245 people benefited from home visit-based parent guidance for families with children aged 0-12 months, breastfeeding counseling services reached 705 people.
İZSEM and Free Health Centers
The number of İzmir Health and Well-being Centers was increased to five in 2026. Completely free services are provided to citizens in the fields of psychological counseling, nutrition and diet, women's and reproductive health, physiotherapy, and active living at the Küçükçiğli, Nergiz, Alsancak, Konak, and Yurtoğlu centers.
Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centers
With the addition of a second unit at the Çiğli İZSEM in June to the center in Konak Center, the number of Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centers reached two. As of the end of July, 388 people benefited from free and anonymous testing opportunities for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and syphilis at these centers.
Psychological Support and Physiotherapy
In the first eight months, approximately 2,000 applications were made to the Psychological Support Units, and around 2,000 people benefited from the Nutrition and Diet Counseling Units. More than 1,000 people participated in physiotherapy, pilates, and yoga activities organized at various centers in the first seven months of the year.
Institutional Collaborations and Protocols
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality signed important service protocols with the Aegean Geriatrics Association, the Alzheimer's Association of Turkey, the İzmir Psychodrama Association, the Turkish Family Health and Planning Foundation, the İzmir Chamber of Dentists, the Turkish Kidney Foundation, and other institutions in order to expand the scope of health services.
