Defeated Colon Cancer Through Health Center Referral
Ceylan Tığ, who was diagnosed with colon cancer during a screening directed by KETEM personnel at a local health center, regained her health through early diagnosis and treatments.
Living in Çayırova, Ceylan Tığ learned she had stage one colon cancer thanks to a screening she underwent upon the guidance of KETEM personnel she met at the health center. Having regained her health after successful operations and a three-year process, Tığ continues her check-ups.
The Process That Started at the Health Center
Ceylan Tığ went to the health center in the Çayırova district about 3 years ago to get a prescription for a gastritis condition, where she met KETEM personnel.
Learning that there was a history of cancer in her family, the officials directed and persuaded Tığ, who had not previously thought of getting tested, to undergo cancer screening.
Examinations and Diagnosis Stage
After the test she applied at home came back positive, Tığ was referred to a specialist physician due to suspicious findings and was diagnosed with stage one colon cancer.
It was stated that thanks to the disease being caught in the early stage, chemotherapy was not initially required in the process.
Surgeries and Treatment Process
Having her first surgery at Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital, it was determined that Tığ's disease had recurred during her check-ups conducted at three-month intervals.
Undergoing surgery for the second time at Kocaeli University Research and Application Hospital, Tığ completed her treatment of approximately 3 years.
The Vital Importance of Early Diagnosis
Following her experience, Ceylan Tığ stated that early diagnosis saves lives and called on citizens not to neglect cancer screenings. Merve Kaya, the responsible physician at the Çayırova Healthy Life Center, also stated that early diagnosis increases success in cancer treatment.
