Free health checks do not require mandatory testing
The Ministry of Health announced that laboratory tests or imaging are not mandatory for every case during free health checks for the public.
The Ministry of Health has clarified that during free routine health checks for the public, not every case requires laboratory tests or diagnostic imaging, and tests will be conducted upon a doctor's recommendation and using existing results if necessary.
Scope of health checks and tests
During a free medical health check, paraclinical tests such as laboratory tests and imaging are not necessary in every case. The examining physician will make the necessary and appropriate recommendations.
Doctor's recommendations and existing results
For individuals aged six and above, paraclinical tests are performed in accordance with the doctor's professional recommendations. Doctors can utilize existing test results accessible through the health insurance claim information system, VNeID, or electronic health records.
By utilizing existing results, individuals do not need to repeat tests, thereby preventing the waste of resources.
Auxiliary clinical techniques and facilities
There is no fixed list of auxiliary clinical techniques used in routine health checks, and these techniques are determined according to the doctor's prescription. This situation affects the operation of commune and ward health centers.
Challenges at the local level and solutions
Considering the shortage of doctors, ear, nose, and throat specialists, and dentists at the local level, the Ministry of Health may increase the number of doctors at health stations during specific times.
By ensuring coordination among healthcare institutions, mobile health checks can be organized at village health stations.
