Genel Sağlık-İş Reacts to Issues at Edirne Keşan State Hospital
Genel Sağlık-İş demanded the resolution of staff shortages, excessive overtime burdens, and referral disruptions at Edirne Keşan State Hospital.
Genel Sağlık-İş Organization Secretary Özcan Arslan reacted to the insufficient staffing, excessive overtime, delays in the referral of pediatric patients, and allegations regarding procurement at Edirne Keşan State Hospital.
Staff Shortage and Overtime Problem
Staff shortages and heavy working conditions experienced in public institutions continue to increase the burden on healthcare workers. It was reported that similar troubles are being experienced at Edirne Keşan State Hospital.
Özcan Arslan claimed that due to the staff shortage at the hospital, employees are forced to work with overtime exceeding eighty hours a month.
Assignments and Allegations of Labor Peace
Administrative processes and merit debates in healthcare institutions continue to be on the agenda of trade unions. It is emphasized that peace in the working environment must be protected.
It was argued that allegations of assignments based on union proximity and political affiliation, instead of merit and objective criteria, undermine labor peace.
Referral Disruptions and Material Procurement Investigation
Disruptions experienced by patients in accessing healthcare services and allegations regarding public procurements draw attention. A call was made to the authorized authorities to investigate the matter.
While it was stated that delays of up to twenty hours occurred in the referral of pediatric patients, it was expressed that allegations of orthopedic material procurements being directed to a single company should be investigated.
