Health Assessment Completed for Millions of Elderly Individuals
Within the scope of efforts carried out by the Ministry of Health, the health status of millions of elderly individuals was examined in family medicine offices during the first nine months of 2026.
The Ministry of Health announced that Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments were performed for over 4 million elderly individuals in family medicine units during the first nine months of 2026.
Health Needs and the Aging Process
Aging is one of the natural periods of life, and as individuals age, their health needs may change. Along with chronic diseases, vision and hearing problems, mobility difficulties, falls, nutritional issues, and changes in cognitive functions can be seen more frequently in advanced ages.
Disease Management Platform Application
Within the scope of the Disease Management Platform application developed by the Ministry of Health for the effective management of chronic diseases, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments are conducted for individuals aged 65 and over in family medicine units.
Parameters and Referral Services
During the assessment, the health status of elderly individuals is evaluated by considering more than 20 parameters to determine the required health services. When deemed necessary, individuals are referred to hospitals or Healthy Life Centers to benefit from advanced examination, treatment, and consultancy services.
Home Healthcare and Elderly Care Services
To facilitate elderly individuals' access to health services, the Healthy Aging Centers Circular was published on March 30, 2023. Within this scope, the in-home and on-site medical care needs of individuals aged 80 and over are met.
Report Renewal and Number of People Reached
In practices carried out with Home Healthcare teams, service has been provided to 266 thousand people to date, and the reports of 983 thousand 567 people have been renewed nationwide via the e-Report system.
