Health condition of hunger-striking Global Sumud Flotilla activist in Tunisia deteriorates
It was reported that Wael Nawar, held in Mornaguia Prison, has suffered severe weight loss and is experiencing difficulties due to his hunger strike lasting 30 days.
It has been announced that the health condition of activist Wael Nawar, who was arrested in Tunisia within the scope of Global Sumud Flotilla activities, has severely deteriorated due to his hunger strike entering its thirtieth day.
Prison Visit and Statements
Bessam Trifi, President of the Tunisian Human Rights League and a lawyer, shared the health status of activist Wael Nawar with the public via a social media post following his visit to Mornaguia Prison.
Trifi stated that Nawar, who has been on a hunger strike for thirty days, has lost twenty-one kilogrammes, frequently feels faint, and suffers from severe pain in different parts of his body.
Physical Difficulties and the Strike Process
Stating that activist Wael Nawar is experiencing immense difficulty in speaking and walking, Trifi drew attention to the severity of his current health condition.
Nawar, who was arrested within the framework of the Global Sumud Flotilla's activities in Tunisia, had started a hunger strike on the sixteenth day, after which other detainees also joined the process.
Legal Status and Financial Charges
No official statement has been made by the Tunisian authorities regarding Nawar's health condition and the ongoing hunger strikes.
While the activists face financial charges such as forging documents, money laundering, fraud, and using donations for personal purposes, they deny all of these accusations.
