Health of Global Sumud Flotilla Member on Hunger Strike Deteriorates

It has been reported that Wael Nawar, a member of the Global Sumud Flotilla who has been on a hunger strike for 17 days at Mornaguia Prison in Tunisia, has reached a critical stage in his health and urgently needs medical intervention.

Health Condition at Critical Level

In a statement made by the Global Sumud Flotilla, it was conveyed that Wael Nawar, who started his hunger strike on August 16, frequently faints and experiences severe respiratory distress.

The statement pointed out that the activist's blood sugar dropped to dangerous levels and that he vomited blood, emphasizing that his health condition is steadily deteriorating.

Call for Medical Intervention and Evaluation

It was demanded that Nawar be provided with the necessary specialist medical intervention urgently and undergo an independent health assessment.

Flotilla officials announced to the public that the condition of the activist, who has been imprisoned for about 6 months, must be closely monitored.

Hearing and Release Demands

It was reported that the detention status of Wael Nawar, alongside Nabil Choubaïfi, Ghassan Al-Hanchiri, and Ghassan Al-Boughdiri, will be addressed at the hearing on September 16.

It was requested that the four activists be released and that the hearing be conducted in accordance with international fair trial standards.

International Support and Call for Demonstration

Emphasizing that the charges against the activists are politically motivated, their release and the lifting of restrictions were demanded.

The Global Sumud Flotilla called for support demonstrations to be organized worldwide on September 5-6 and for the hearing to be monitored.
