Health Statistics Yearbook 2025 Published: Number of Physicians Increased
According to the 2025 data announced by the Ministry of Health, the total number of physicians in Turkey increased, while the number of applications and treatments at healthcare facilities was shared with the public.
According to the Health Statistics Yearbook 2025 bulletin published by the General Directorate of Health Information Systems of the Ministry of Health, the number of physicians across Turkey reached 232,315, and the total number of applications to physicians exceeded 1 billion.
Number of Physicians and Healthcare Personnel
While the total number of physicians across Turkey reached 232,315, 111,472 of these personnel consisted of specialist physicians, 56,300 of general practitioners, and 64,543 of resident physicians.
The total number of healthcare personnel across the country rose to 1,441,114, expanding the human resource capacity in the health infrastructure.
Healthcare Facility Application Data
According to the published yearbook, a total of 1,138,060,185 applications were made to physicians in 2025, and the number of applications to physicians per capita was recorded as 13.2.
While the rate of applications made to primary healthcare institutions was 41.3 percent, applications made to secondary and tertiary healthcare institutions reached 58.7 percent.
Hospital Infrastructure and Medical Equipment
Throughout the year, 1,553 hospitals continued to serve actively, while the total number of actively used hospital beds reached 270,829.
The number of intensive care beds in healthcare facilities was determined as 48,360, and the number of actively serving hemodialysis devices was recorded as 19,582.
Mortality and Infant Health Statistics
According to the data announced within the scope of the bulletin, the infant mortality rate was 7.7 per thousand, the neonatal mortality rate was 5.0 per thousand live births, and the under-five mortality rate was recorded as 9.4.
The maternal mortality ratio per 100,000 live births was announced as 12.6, while the share of cesarean sections among live births was 59.0 percent.
Case and Vaccination Coverage Rates
Last year, a total of 228 measles cases were detected, 194 of which were reported to be local and 34 of foreign nationality; the number of malaria cases was 221, and the total of new and relapse cases in tuberculosis was 8,151.
When vaccination coverage rates were examined, it was determined that the DTaP 3 vaccine was successfully administered at a rate of 94 percent and the BCG vaccine at 93 percent.
Organ Transplantation and Treatment Activities
The total number of organ and tissue transplantations performed during the year was recorded as 16,200, taking its place among the significant developments in treatment processes.
