Healthcare teams operating in the mountainous and hard-to-reach villages of Başkale conduct home visits to perform pregnancy checks and encourage expectant mothers to have normal births in order to protect maternal and infant health.

Home visits in rural neighborhoods

Healthcare teams operating in the mountainous and hard-to-reach regions of Başkale visit the most remote neighborhoods to protect maternal and infant health. Conducting home visits at regular intervals, the teams check the pregnancies of expectant mothers, evaluate their health status, and inform them about issues to pay attention to during pregnancy.

Normal birth and health information

Expectant mothers are informed about the importance of regular health checks, healthy nutrition, birth preparation, the importance of normal delivery, and risks that may be encountered during pregnancy. Most recently, the teams visited pregnant women living in the rural neighborhoods of Öncüler and Kızılca, where access to healthcare services is difficult, performing on-site monitoring of the expectant mothers and encouraging them toward normal delivery.

Importance and goals of home visits

Başkale District Health Director Muhammed Anaran stated that midwives closely monitor expectant mothers throughout the entire birth process. Noting that home visits are important in healthcare services, Anaran expressed that midwife colleagues provide services in teams of 3 to 4 people all the way to the district's most distant village.

Versatile support and field studies

Dr. İrem Şevik, a Public Health Specialist working at the Family Health Center, explained that they carry out their work in a challenging geography and noted that they reached 109 pregnant women in the last 3 months. Coordinator midwife Sevda Yeşilfidan stated that they leave no pregnant woman without monitoring.
