The Ministry of Health has prepared new guidelines for the transparent management of medical equipment and to ensure they find their true value throughout all processes from import to insurance.
The Vietnam Ministry of Health has announced new guidelines for managing medical equipment prices throughout their life cycle in order to increase transparency in the supply chain and bring prices to their true value.
New Era in Medical Equipment Price Management
In order to ensure transparency in the supply chain, the Ministry of Health proposes managing the price of medical equipment throughout its entire life cycle, from import and procurement to tender and insurance payments.
At a press conference held, information was shared regarding the development and enactment of key health policies to be implemented in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Life Cycle and Supply Chain Approach
With the new regulations, medical devices will be monitored throughout the entire process from import and licensing to procurement, taxation, customs, tenders, and insurance payments.
It is aimed to develop monitoring and control capabilities by interconnecting data between regulatory authorities.
Online Price Listing and Database
With a new initiative supported by the Ministry of Health, medical equipment prices will be listed and disclosed online in a database system.
This information will serve various purposes such as traceability, price management, and state administration.
Separation of Pricing and Tendering Laws
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that a clear distinction must be made between pricing laws and tendering laws.
It is aimed to avoid the misconception that prices announced during the tender process and listed prices can be used interchangeably in all cases.
