New Party Women's Branch Chair Kaya Issues Family Planning and Health Call
Stating that there are serious problems in accessing free family planning methods in primary healthcare services, Asu Kaya emphasized that protection is not a luxury.
Asu Kaya, General Chair of the New Party Women's Branch, stated that women experience difficulties in accessing free family planning methods in primary healthcare services and called on the Ministry of Health to take measures.
Striking Data in the Family Planning Report
Asu Kaya, General Chair of the New Party Women's Branch and Deputy of Osmaniye, drew attention to shortcomings in family planning services based on a report prepared by the Unity and Solidarity Union.
According to the report, it was reported that intra-uterine devices have not been supplied to the majority of Family Health Centers in the past year and that this procedure is not performed in a large portion of the centers.
Material and Infrastructure Deficiencies
Emphasizing the importance of preventive health policies in primary healthcare services, Asu Kaya expressed that shortages of materials and certified personnel disrupt the process.
Stating that family planning services are limited to the consultancy level, Kaya noted that methods through which women can protect themselves must be provided free of charge.
Income Inequality in Protection Methods
Stating that free family planning services are of vital importance, especially for low-income citizens, Kaya stated that this situation leads to a turn toward the private sector.
Emphasizing that disruptions in healthcare services create serious inequalities, Kaya said that protection is not a luxury and cannot be turned into an income issue.
Calls Made to the Ministry of Health
Making a call to the Ministry of Health, Asu Kaya requested that family planning methods be delivered regularly to Family Health Centers and that necessary conditions be provided.
She argued that reproductive health services must be guaranteed for all citizens.
HPV Vaccine and the Motion Submitted to Parliament
Stating that the HPV vaccine is also a critical topic within the scope of women's preventive health services, Kaya reminded that she brought the issue to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Expressing that the vaccine not being free in Turkey creates health inequality, Kaya touched upon the importance of the state making these services accessible to everyone.
