The Ministry of Health has forwarded a new regulation to 81 Provincial Governorships determining the rules according to which personal data belonging to physicians and healthcare professionals will be shared on the websites of healthcare facilities.

Purpose and Scope of the Circular

In the letter sent to 81 Provincial Governorships by the General Directorate of Health Information Systems of the Ministry of Health, it was explained in detail which personal data can be shared on the internet pages of healthcare facilities.

Information That Can Be Published and Information Subject to Consent

According to the regulation published following the applications and lawsuits filed by the Physicians' Union (Hekim Birliği Sendikası), while the names, surnames, titles, and areas of expertise of physicians can be published on the official internet page, information such as CVs and photographs will only be included if the physician requests it.

Sharing of Documents Not Open to the Public

Documents containing personal data, such as duty and interview result lists, will no longer be published in a manner open to the public, and such information will only be shared with the relevant personnel through closed environments.

Responsibility and Sanctions

In the statement made, it was clearly reminded that unlawful data sharing will entail disciplinary and criminal liability within the scope of the Personal Data Protection Law and the Turkish Penal Code.
