New Regulation on Social Security Institution Health Payments and Transfer Measures
With the SSI's communique published in the Official Gazette, new reimbursement rules for organ and tissue transplantation, cancer drugs, bone marrow transplantation packages, and surgical procedure points have entered into force.
The Social Security Institution has put new rules regarding organ and tissue transplants, cancer drugs, bone marrow transplant packages, and surgical procedure points into effect by publishing them in the Official Gazette in healthcare financing.
Organ and Tissue Transplant Expenses
The treatment expenses of both the recipient and the donor will be covered by the institution for organ or tissue transplants deemed necessary for individuals under the SSI scope. Procedures can only be performed in healthcare facilities that have an internal organ transplant center.
Patient and organ transfer expenses will be paid within the scope of the Health Implementation Communiqué provisions, and the payment of procurement fees for cadaveric donors has also been included in the system.
Conditions for Blood Group Incompatible Transplants
The payment limit regarding ABO blood group incompatible kidney transplants has been clarified, and incompatible transplants except for patients whose treatment is not possible via dialysis methods will not be covered.
It was clearly stated in the official regulation that apheresis procedures and medical supplies used in these transplants cannot be billed separately.
Cancer and Rare Disease Drugs
Usage durations and prescription conditions for certain drug combinations in breast cancer treatment in early-stage and metastatic patients have been tied to a health board report.
The drug with the active ingredient satralizumab, used in the treatment of Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder, has been added to the reimbursement list for eligible patients aged 12 and over.
Procedure Points and Bone Marrow Packages
While the point for the bronchoscopy procedure was updated, relevant specialty branches were paved to bill for this procedure, and thoracoscopic esophageal atresia primary repair was added to the list.
In bone marrow transplants, tests, blood components, and complication treatments were included in the package price, while chronic diseases and personally brought medications were excluded.
