People's Party Shares New Health Insurance Model Unique to the TRNC
With the model announced by the People's Party, it is aimed that citizens will benefit from private hospitals as well as state hospitals with insurance coverage.
The People's Party has publicly introduced a General Health Insurance System model unique to the TRNC, which will enable citizens to receive health services with insurance from private hospitals and clinics alongside state hospitals.
Goal of a Sustainable Health System
The People's Party emphasized that what matters in the field of healthcare is not just constructing buildings, but also establishing a permanent and sustainable system. The statement expressed that upon coming to power, the objective is to establish a health system that is fair, accessible, sustainable, and suited to the country's conditions.
Joint Working Platform with Stakeholders
In preparing the system, physicians, healthcare workers, social security and legal experts, private health institutions, the insurance sector, economists, and relevant public institutions will be brought together on a common working platform. The General Health Insurance System will not be created behind closed doors, but in partnership with all stakeholders in the healthcare sector.
Examination of International Models
General Health Insurance practices in Turkey, Southern Cyprus, and different parts of the world are being examined in detail. The goal is to implement the most appropriate model by taking into account the population structure, economic conditions, and existing health infrastructure of the TRNC.
Actuarial Study and Cost Analysis
The true cost of General Health Insurance and the country's payment capacity will be revealed through a comprehensive actuarial study. The population structure, the ratio of employees and retirees, the true costs of health services, and current expenditures will be meticulously calculated.
Social Justice and Equal Access
The health coverage of retirees, the unemployed, children, students, and non-working segments will be safeguarded based on the principles of social justice and financial sustainability. The objective is for every citizen to have equal access to the healthcare services they need, regardless of their income status.
Transparent Scope and Protection of Citizens
The scope of all health services—such as examinations, tests, medication, surgeries, and chronic illnesses—will be announced transparently in advance. Thus, citizens will be prevented from facing unforeseen heavy medical bills in the future.
Gradual and Planned Transition Process
The General Health Insurance will not be implemented abruptly, but rather measuredly, with planning and, if necessary, in a phased manner. The system, which will be launched with specific services in the first stage, will be gradually expanded after financial balances and achieved results are evaluated.
