Reaction from KTTB to the Ministry of Health: The Reason for Density in Emergency Services is Lack of Planning

The Turkish Cypriot Medical Association stated that the main reason for the density, long waiting times, and disruptions in services experienced in emergency services is the failure to plan the healthcare system in the face of population growth.

Targeting of Healthcare Workers

Expressing that following citizens' complaints, attempts are being made to place the responsibility on healthcare workers, the association emphasized that the problem lies not with the workers, but with the unmanaged healthcare system.

Population Growth and Primary Care Deficiency

Drawing attention to the fact that the country's population has increased significantly in a short time while healthcare services have failed to keep pace with this change, it was stated that primary healthcare services have not been strengthened.

Condition of Emergency Services

Stating that emergency services cannot replace primary care, it was noted that the current density and disruptions in the services stem directly from the structural lack of planning.

Call for Girne and Güzelyurt Hospitals

Indicating that merely constructing buildings does not mean establishing healthcare services, the association demanded that Girne and Güzelyurt hospitals be opened after completing their personnel and manpower planning.

Expectation for General Health Insurance

To solve structural problems in the healthcare sector, it was demanded that the tiered physician system be established and General Health Insurance be implemented without further delay.
