Restoration process of Karşıyaka's historic health center officially begins

Aiming to protect the historic structures in the city and carry them into the future, Karşıyaka Municipality, in cooperation with the İzmir Governor's Office, signed the contract and completed the site delivery for the restoration of the Op. Dr. Bülent Zeren Health Center building.

Protocol and Site Delivery

Within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed between Karşıyaka Municipality and the İzmir Governor's Office, the contract for the restoration works of the registered structure was signed and the site was handed over.

In the project to be carried out with the support of the İzmir Governor's Office Investment Monitoring and Coordination Department, the building is aimed to be completely renovated in its original form.

Characteristics of the Historic Building

Built between 1950 and 1960, the structure is known as one of the few examples carrying the residential architecture of that era to the present day.

Registered as an immovable cultural property that needs to be preserved by the Board for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Property, the building will serve again when the works are completed.

Restoration and Renovation Plan

Following the signed contract and site delivery, a comprehensive reinforcement application will first be implemented in the historic structure.

All sections of the two-story building, from its interior to its roof, will be overhauled preserving their original characteristics and damaged parts will be improved.

Completion Time and the Mayor's Message

After the works, which are planned to be completed in eight months, landscaping will be done and the Directorate of Health Affairs will return to the building.

Karşıyaka Mayor Yıldız Ünsal emphasized the importance of protecting the historic structure for urban identity and thanked the İzmir Governor's Office.
