Statement from the Turkish Medical Association on September 12 and the Right to Health
The Turkish Medical Association emphasized that neoliberal policies created by the coup regime continue to threaten the right to health and life.
In a statement on the 46th anniversary of the September 12, 1980 Coup, the Central Council of the Turkish Medical Association stated that the antidemocratic and neoliberal order continues to threaten the right to health today, calling for a genuine reckoning.
September 12 and Professional Organizations
Recalling that the September 12 period was a dark era when labor, freedoms, and democratic politics were suppressed, it was stated that professional organizations were also directly targeted during this process.
The Process of Marketization in Health
Drawing attention to the devastation in the healthcare field caused by the neoliberal transformation for which the coup laid the groundwork, it was noted that making health a commercial commodity is the root cause of today's structural crises.

Stating that the right to health cannot be separated from democracy and peace, emphasis was placed on the devastating effects of war and inequality on human health.
