Turkey aims to strengthen global cooperation to combat the negative impacts of climate change on health and to launch the Antalya Resilient Health Systems Initiative at COP31, to be held in Antalya.

The Summit to Take Place in Antalya

Important work will be carried out within the scope of the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, hosted by Turkey and scheduled to take place in Antalya from November 9 to 20, 2026.

As part of the conference, Health Day will be held on November 9, and health will be addressed as a priority on the COP31 Action Agenda.

Climate Change and Public Health

Attention will be drawn to the risks posed to public health by elements such as rising temperatures, extreme weather events, air pollution, and water and food security.

Policies aimed at increasing the preparedness and adaptive capacity of health systems against climate-induced risks will be brought to the forefront.

Antalya Resilient Health Systems Initiative

Turkey will take concrete steps by launching the Antalya Resilient Health Systems Initiative within the scope of COP31's Implementation COP vision.

Through the initiative, scientific evidence and international experiences will be translated into measurable actions and transferred to different countries.

International Cooperation and Platform

Aziz Alper Biten, General Manager of EU and Foreign Relations at the Ministry of Health, stated that Turkey has included health on the COP agenda for the first time.

Thanks to the AIR platform, an international structure will be established through which countries can share their experiences and good practices in the field of health with one another.
