The Turkish seed sector is focusing on the Asia-Pacific market to strengthen its global position and preparing to host the ASC 2026 International Seed Congress.

Goals for the Asian Market

The Turkish seed sector has turned its sights to the Asia-Pacific market while strengthening its position on a global scale. Burak Gönen, President of the Turkish Seed Industry Association, stated that their goal is to increase mutual trade and carry Turkish seed companies into new markets.

Position in Agriculture and Production

Stating that Turkey ranks among the important countries in agriculture and especially vegetable production, Burak Gönen emphasized that the country is among the top 5 countries in the world in tomato supply.

ASC 2026 Congress in Turkey

The International Seed Congress ASC 2026, organized by the Asia and Pacific Seed Association, will be held in Turkey. In addition to commercial issues, technical topics such as plant quarantine, soil fertility, climate change, and artificial intelligence will be addressed at the congress.

Export Figures

In 2025, Turkey exported 40,384,966 kilograms of seeds to the Asian continent, generating an income of 106,292,812 dollars. The highest seed exports to Asia were made to Iraq, Syria, and Uzbekistan.
