Security Cooperation Meeting Held Between Turkey and Austria

With the aim of enhancing cooperation between the security units of Turkey and Austria, the 4th Meeting of the Joint Cooperation Mechanism was held under the chairmanship of Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi and Austrian Federal Minister of Interior Gerhard Karner.

Joint Cooperation Mechanism

The development of cooperation in the field of security was addressed at the 4th Meeting of the Joint Cooperation Mechanism, held between the delegations chaired by Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi and Austrian Federal Minister of Interior Gerhard Karner.

Minister Çiftçi touched upon the importance of institutional cooperation between the Ministries of Interior of the two countries and stated that they consider the mechanism to be extremely beneficial.

Course of Bilateral Relations

Minister Çiftçi stated that relations between Turkey and Austria continue to progress in a positive direction with the valuable contributions of both sides and the impact of high-level contacts in recent years.

Security and Migration Management

It was emphasized that increasing cooperation in a broad area, particularly security and migration management, in today's environment of increasing political and economic uncertainties, will provide significant gains for both countries.

Counter-Terrorism

It was stated that Turkey's resolute fight against terrorist organizations, primarily PKK/KCK, FETÖ, DHKP-C, and ISIS, makes a great contribution to regional security and stability.

Combating Organized Crime

It was conveyed that illegal activities such as drug trafficking, migrant smuggling, cybercrime, and arms trafficking are carried out on a global scale, and the importance of a joint fight against organized crime structures was emphasized.

New Generation Criminal Organizations

It was noted that an unrelenting struggle is being waged against new-generation criminal organizations that try to expand their areas of activity, particularly by effectively utilizing social media and digital communication facilities.
