Access Block Imposed on 246 Social Media Accounts Causing Investor Panic

In line with the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an access block decision was made for 246 social media accounts that made speculative posts directing investors in the capital markets to panic.

Initiation of the Investigation

Within the framework of the investigation launched ex officio by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Investigation for Informatics Crimes, posts on social media platforms were examined in detail.

Identified Posts

As a result of the examination work, a total of 246 social media accounts and their connections were identified that produced content capable of directly or indirectly driving investors into fear and panic regarding capital market instruments.

Access Block Decision and Implementation

In accordance with the decision made by the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace, it was ruled that the accounts in question and related links be blocked from access. Notifications were made to the relevant official institutions in order to fulfill the requirement of the decision.
