Access Restriction Imposed on Social Media Accounts of Numerous Institutions and Figures
By decision of the Bakırköy 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace, the accounts of many institutions and figures, including Evrensel newspaper and Amnesty International Turkey, have been blocked.
In line with the decision made by the Bakırköy 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace, access blocks were imposed on the X and Instagram accounts of many institutions and figures, including Evrensel newspaper, Amnesty International Turkey, Academics for Peace, and MLSA.
Details of the Access Ban Decision
According to the information shared by the Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD), a large number of accounts were made invisible from Turkey as a result of this measure taken by the Bakırköy 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
Institutions and Figures Whose Access Was Blocked
With the latest decision, the accounts of Evrensel Newspaper, Amnesty Turkey, Academics for Peace, MLSA, Lawyers for Justice, Mor Dayanışma, Kaos GL News, Barbaros Altuğ, Ece Fırat, Fırat Fıstık, Kadın Savunması, Özlem Akarsu Çelik, UMUT-SEN, HAK Initiative, Trauma Studies, Sena Yazıbağlı, Ali İsmail K. Foundation, Özgür Genç Kadın, Tamer Doğan, Yıldız Tar, Mahallede Lgbti, TİP LGBTİ+, and Tuncay Sonel were among those whose access was blocked.
Similar Decisions Taken in Previous Days
On September 12, the accounts of LGBTİ+ associations and activists had been blocked. Following this practice, on September 13, 32 more X accounts were closed to access within the same scope.
Kaos GL Operation and Detentions
In parallel with these ongoing events, a total of 21 people were detained in the operation launched against Kaos GL, and these developments caused widespread repercussions in the public sphere.
