Claims That TikTok Will Be Banned on October 5 Do Not Reflect the Truth
Claims circulating on social media that TikTok will be blocked have no basis in official institutions and sources.
It has emerged that shares on social media claiming the TikTok platform will be blocked from access in Turkey starting October 5 do not reflect the truth. Official inquiries revealed that there is no ban decision in place.
Emergence of Access Ban Claims
In posts rapidly spreading across social media platforms, it was claimed that an access ban would be imposed on the TikTok application throughout Turkey starting October 5. These claims were shared by numerous users in a short time and created uncertainty regarding the platform's status.
No Decision Found in Official Institution Records
In research conducted via the site information query page on the website of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK), no access ban or closure decision targeting TikTok was encountered. Similarly, it was observed that there is no such decision through the e-Government system.
No Statement on the Platform's Official Channels
Upon examining TikTok Turkey's social media accounts and the platform's official announcement and news channel, TikTok Newsroom, it was determined that no official statement regarding an access ban has been included. Investigations in open sources also failed to yield reliable information supporting the claim.
