Çorum-Based Operation Against Dangerous Content Sharing on Social Media

Nine suspects under the age of 18, determined to have organized by sharing action scenarios and educational content such as bomb-making via social media platforms, were detained in simultaneous operations conducted by gendarmerie teams in 3 provinces centered in Çorum.

Details of the Operation

As a result of planned work carried out by the Çorum Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Terrorism Branch Directorate, the activities of the suspects organized via social media were exposed.

Security forces took action within the scope of the investigation carriedatory out under the coordination of the Çorum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Identified Activities

It was determined that the suspects organized under various ideologies on social media, interacted with extremist content, and tried to normalize radical thoughts.

It was established that the defendants shared educational content in the virtual environment on bomb-making, molotov cocktail preparation, the use of long-barreled weapons, and psychological warfare tactics.

Simultaneous Raids

Simultaneous raids were organized to capture a total of 11 suspects in the operation covering Istanbul and Sakarya provinces, centered in Çorum.

As a result of the operations carried out, 9 suspects were apprehended and detained.

Judicial Process and Seized Materials

During the operation, digital materials found at the residential addresses of the suspects were seized for examination.

The 9 detained suspects were referred to the courthouse after the completion of their procedures at the gendarmerie.
