Numerous journalists' and press organizations' social media accounts blocked
The X accounts of many journalists, academics, and press organizations in Turkey have been blocked from access on the grounds of national security and public order.
A large number of X (Twitter) accounts belonging to press organizations, journalists, academics, and financial experts have been blocked from access in Turkey on the grounds of protecting national security and public order.
Accounts Subject to Access Restrictions
Access restrictions have been implemented targeting the accounts of press organizations, journalists, academics, and individuals working in the field of economics. A large portion of these accounts has been made invisible from Turkey by the X platform.
Details regarding who is among the accounts subjected to the access block and the total number of accounts covered by the restriction have not yet been shared with the public.
Affected Names and Institutions
In addition to Kısa Dalga, access blocks were imposed on the accounts of journalists Hilmi Hacaloğlu, Alptekin Dursunoğlu, and Razi Canikligil.
Investment and financial advisor Emre Şirin, ENAG founder Prof. Dr. Veysel Ulusoy, political economist İnan Mutlu, academic Prof. Dr. Barış Övgün, and Başaran Aksu, one of the founders of Umut-Sen, were also among the blocked names.
Reaction to the Decision from Kemal Göktaş
Kısa Dalga Editor-in-Chief Kemal Göktaş reacted harshly to the access block decision on his social media account. Göktaş stated that the country has entered a process where even the remnants of democracy are being destroyed.
Stating that those who implement the decision are just as responsible as those who made it for this unlawful situation, Göktaş shared the institution's new X account with his followers and emphasized that they will not compromise on journalism.
