In an operation conducted yesterday morning in ten provinces based in Istanbul, ten social media influencers were detained for making posts containing violence, profanity, knife fights, and threats in order to generate income from their followers.
Simultaneous Operation Across Ten Provinces
Simultaneous operations were carried out by law enforcement forces yesterday morning, centered in Istanbul and spanning ten different provinces.
As a result of the raids, suspects determined to have made illegal posts on social media were apprehended one by one.
Well-Known Figures in Custody
The couple Sinan Kaya and Cansum Kaya, against whom an investigation was launched a month ago, and Semih Varol, who had previously been detained for cursing at police officers during a live broadcast, were included on the list.
Additionally, Ferhat Billor, Çağlayan Yıldırım, Onur Sermik, Elif Akdemir, Onur Can Güzel, Mehmet Emin Citer, and Mehmet Aden Arslan were detained in the operation.
Charges and Legal Process
It was determined by official authorities that the suspects attempted to generate income through posts involving intense violence, profanity, threats, and fights.
While the detained individuals faced charges of inciting the public to hatred and hostility, degradation, and obscenity, drug tests were also administered to the suspects, and their procedures at the police station are ongoing.
