3rd Sultangazi Sports Festival Held at Mimar Sinan City Forest
Students came together across 19 disciplines at the event held in the district holding the European City of Sport title.
The 3rd Sultangazi Sports Festival, held with the participation of youth in Sultangazi, the 2026 European City of Sport, witnessed colorful and entertaining scenes at Mimar Sinan City Forest.
Location of the Festival
In the Sultangazi district, which holds the title of 2026 European City of Sport, a sports festival was organized for the third time to increase youth participation.
The events took place at Mimar Sinan City Forest, offering an environment intertwined with nature, and attracted great interest from participants.
Participation of Protocols
Istanbul Deputy Governor Mustafa Kaya and district protocols attended the organization held at Mimar Sinan City Forest.
Sultangazi District Governor Mahmut Kaşıkçı and Mayor Abdurrahman Dursun also took their places in the festival area.
Broad Protocol Support
In addition to the protocol, District Director of National Education Necati Tekbaş and District Director of Youth and Sports Hüseyin Kara participated in the event.
Furthermore, political party representatives, teachers, and numerous students took their places in the festival area.
Nineteen Different Branches
Youth studying in the district's schools competed in a total of 19 different branches, ranging from football to horseback riding, and from badminton to athletics.
In the competitions held, a purely friendly atmosphere was aimed without any ranking or grading.
Traditional Games
Alongside sportive competitions, traditional games such as folk dances and tug-of-war also took place at the event.
These traditional activities provided highly entertaining moments for participants and spectators alike.
Mayor's Meeting with Youth
Sultangazi Mayor Abdurrahman Dursun visited the play areas one by one and showed close interest in the youth.
Mayor Dursun personally accompanied the youth in their games, sharing in their excitement.
Goals and Emphases
Mayor Abdurrahman Dursun stated that for the first time in Istanbul, a district became a European City of Sport and shared the goal of being the best.
Istanbul Deputy Governor Mustafa Kaya drew attention to the importance of children growing up intertwined with sports.
