European Week of Sports Kicks Off with Enthusiasm in Mardin
Led by the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, the event saw high participation from local protocol members and young people in the city.
The opening ceremony of the European Week of Sports events, organized under the coordination of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports in Mardin, took place at the Artuklu Indoor Sports Hall.

The opening program planned within the scope of the European Week of Sports in Mardin was organized at the Artuklu Indoor Sports Hall. Carried out under the coordination of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, this organization brought together people from various branches of sports.
Protocol and Participants
Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun, Provincial gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Ercan Atasoy, and Provincial Chief of Police Mustafa Varol attended the opening ceremony.
Artuklu District Governor Muhammet Öztabak, Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Kemalettin Sakin, Provincial Director of Health Saffet Yavuz, and Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Beytullah Birlik also took part in the program.
International Participation
Vidmantas Ruplys, Program Manager of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, and Fabian Nguyen, Portfolio Manager of the German Development Bank, also participated in the event.
Medal Ceremony and Speeches
Governor Tuncay Akkoyun presented medals to the successful athletes who ranked high during the opening program.
In his speech, Akkoyun emphasized the unifying and healing aspect of sports, stating that it strengthens the climate of brotherhood.
National athlete Elif Berfin Altun also delivered a speech at the ceremony, sharing her special journey of sports in her life.
