Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe's Opponents Revealed in UEFA Champions League

With the draw held in Monaco, the opponents for Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, who will compete in the UEFA Champions League, have been finalized. In the new format featuring 36 teams, our teams will play eight matches each.

The draw for the league phase of the 2026-2027 season in the UEFA Champions League was held in Monaco. The opponents that Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, representing Turkey with two teams for the first time in 19 years, will face in the new format have been determined.

New Format and Tournament Rules

In the new format to be implemented in the UEFA Champions League this season, 36 teams will compete. Each team will face a total of 8 different opponents, with 4 matches at home and 4 away.

While the teams finishing the league phase in the top 8 will advance directly to the round of 16, the teams ranked between 9th and 24th will play in the play-offs. The final of the giant tournament will be held on June 5, 2027, at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.

Tough Opponents for Our Representatives

Galatasaray, entering the draw from Pot 3, will host Barcelona, Aston Villa, Feyenoord, and Stuttgart at home. Away, the Yellow-Reds will face PSG, Sporting, Lille, and AEK. Making a statement after the draw, Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek stated that they drew one of the difficult lots.

Our other representative, Fenerbahçe, will play against Liverpool, Roma, Villarreal, and Slavia Prague at home. The Yellow-Canaries will compete away against Atletico Madrid, Aston Villa, Shakhtar Donetsk, and LASK. Fenerbahçe Board Member Selim Kosif evaluated the draw by saying, 'We drew a good lot,' and touched upon their transfer plans.

Details and Awards from the Draw Ceremony

The draw, held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco and broadcast live in Turkey on TRT Spor and the TRT Spor YouTube channel, was conducted by former football players Thierry Henry and David Villa.

As part of the ceremony, the UEFA President's Award was presented to Thierry Henry, while the UEFA Respect Award was given to Marquinhos. It was announced that the final fixture list of the Champions League will be released on Saturday.

Fenerbahçe's Journey to the League Phase

Fenerbahçe managed to eliminate Gornik Zabrze, Sturm Graz, and O. Lyon, respectively, to reach the Champions League league phase. Having played 306 matches in European cups to date, the Yellow-Canaries are the Turkish team with the most wins in Europe, with 122 victories.
