Gia Lai Provincial Sports Festival kicks off with over 3,000 athletes
Held in the first year of the two-tier local government model, thousands of athletes are competing across 21 different disciplines.
Held under the theme "Gia Lai Sports – Development Goal," the 2026 Provincial Sports Festival opened its doors on the evening of September 8 with a grand ceremony.

The first Provincial Sports Festival of 2026 in Gia Lai province opened on the evening of September 8 under the theme "Gia Lai Sports – Development Goal."
This event takes place in the first year that the province, in a new stage of development, implements the two-tier local government model.
Leadership Speeches
Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized the importance of healthy and dynamic human resources during his opening speech.
Committee Chairman Tuan stated that the organization is not only a competitive arena but also represents solidarity and discipline.
Participant and Discipline Information
Competitions are being held in 21 different sports disciplines at the festival, with more than 3,000 athletes fiercely competing.
Additionally, over 600 coaches and 500 referees are on duty at the organization.
Competition Processes and Medals
To date, 14 events have been successfully completed, and 192 sets of medals have been awarded by the Organizing Committee.
Meanwhile, the finals for seven major sports disciplines continue to be held between September 1 and September 15.
