GSB Dormitory Application Results Announced and 90 Percent Rate Achieved in First Placement
The Ministry of Youth and Sports announced that a 90 percent success rate was achieved in the first dormitory placements for the 2026-2027 period and capacity exceeded 1 million.
Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak announced the release of the dormitory application results for the 2026-2027 academic year during a meeting at the GSB Dormitory Coordination Center in Ankara, reporting that 90 percent of students were placed in dormitories according to the first placement results.
First Placement Results and Rates
Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak announced that the GSB dormitory application results for the 2026-2027 academic year have been made available. Minister Bak stated that 90 percent of students were placed in dormitories as a result of this year's initial placement.
Dormitory Infrastructure and Capacity Increase
Recalling that in 2002 there were 182,258 bed capacities across 190 dormitories, Minister Bak emphasized that today they have reached a total of 867 dormitories and a bed capacity exceeding 1 million across 81 provinces, 271 districts, and the TRNC. A 439 percent increase in capacity has been achieved since 2002.
Facilities Offered in Dormitories
Students are offered safe living spaces in rooms for 3-4 people with wooden furniture. The dormitories, featuring study rooms, sports areas, dining halls, canteens, and cafeterias, provide 24/7 uninterrupted security services.
Scholarship and Loan Support
Currently, 1 million 518 thousand 166 students receive scholarships or study loans. While a total of 51 billion 435 million 708 thousand TL in study loans and scholarship support was transferred to students in 2025, breakfast and dinner are also offered free of charge.
Digital Infrastructure and Reliability
It was stated that placement processes are carried out with an objective digital infrastructure based on reliable data. Information belonging to applicants was meticulously verified through the records of 12 public institutions.
