Gym Owners Arrested Following Fire in Batman
Following the tragic fire that broke out in the sauna section in Batman, resulting in the deaths of three people, the business owners have been sent to prison as part of the judicial process.
Two business owners who were detained in connection with the fire that occurred in the sauna section of a gym in Batman—leaving three people dead and nine injured—have been arrested.
Details of the Fire and Response
A fire broke out for an undetermined reason on the evening of August 30 in the sauna section of a gym located in Gültepe Neighborhood. Upon reports from bystanders, numerous fire department, AFAD, UMKE, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.
Casualties and Injured
A total of 12 people affected by the fire, which was brought under control by the teams' intervention, were taken to hospitals, three of whom were in critical condition. Despite all medical interventions, Şanzime Sarıgül, Emine Yani, and Gülsüm Öztekin Tunç, a mother of two, could not be saved and lost their lives.
Funeral Procedures
It was learned that Şanzime Sarıgül and Emine Yani, two of the victims, worked at the Children's Homes Site affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. The bodies of the three individuals, whose autopsies were completed, were handed over to their relatives and buried.
Judicial Process and Arrests
Within the scope of the investigation launched by the Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, two business owners and three employees were detained. After procedures at the police station, the two business owners were referred to the courthouse and arrested by the court, while the three employees were released.
