Events Prior to the Match
Tensions arose in the stands prior to the Super Lig second-week match played at Kocaeli Stadium on August 24.
It was determined that yellow bags were waved from the stands where Kocaelispor fans were located, carrying out provocative actions targeting the opposing team's fans.
Investigation and Detention Process
An official investigation was promptly launched by the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the provocative actions that took place.
The 5 suspects identified within the scope of the ongoing investigation were referred to the courthouse after completing their procedures at the police station.
Charges and Legal Process
The suspects were charged with inciting the public to hatred and hostility pursuant to Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code.
It was also reported that an investigation was opened for the crimes of chanting threats or insults within the scope of Article 14 of Law No. 6222.
Court Decision and Judicial Control
The suspects referred to the courthouse were brought before the duty judge after the prosecutor's office procedures.
The duty judge ruled to apply a judicial control measure in the form of house arrest for the 5 suspects questioned.
