Lawsuit Over Amateur Sports Contribution Fee Between Ministry of Youth and Sports and Galatasaray

The Ministry of Youth and Sports initiated legal proceedings against Galatasaray on the grounds that the annual amateur sports contribution fee arising from the usage rights protocol of the Seyrantepe Sports Complex was not paid. Following the suspension of the enforcement proceeding due to the club's objection, the ministry applied to the court demanding receivables and compensation.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports initiated an enforcement proceeding against Galatasaray on the grounds that the annual amateur sports contribution fee, which must be paid pursuant to the Seyrantepe Sports Complex usage rights protocol, was not paid.

Club's Objection and Legal Step

Upon Galatasaray's objection to the initiated enforcement proceeding, the proceeding was halted. Thereupon, the ministry filed a lawsuit demanding a receivable of 18 million 966 thousand 895 liras and 40 kurus, along with bad faith compensation.

Galatasaray's Defense

The lawyers of the yellow-red club argued that the fee in question had been paid. The lawyers claimed that the ministry had come up with a retroactive difference, interest, and a massively recalculated debt for the year 2025.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports announced that the legal procedures regarding the club were not based on any discretion or special practice, but were carried out in accordance with contract provisions and legislation. The statement emphasized that the process was a routine legal follow-up.
