The statement to the police by Central Referee Board President Ferhat Gündoğdu, who was detained in the referees file investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been accessed. Gündoğdu defended himself against the accusations directed at him and explained his financial movements and meetings with referees.

Classification Changes and Collective Decisions

Gündoğdu stated that the referee and observer list changes in 2022 and during the 2024-2025 season were not made out of personal animosity. He argued that these decisions were taken collectively through public demands, performance evaluations, and the will of the Turkish Football Federation management.

Reasons for Calling Referees

Admitting that he called certain referees before matches during his term in office, Gündoğdu stated that he made these phone calls to give morale to the referees and to find out if there was any important agenda item.

HTS Records and Kerem Ersoy Allegations

Touching upon the warnings that witnesses' HTS records could be accessed, Gündoğdu claimed that he uttered these statements not for the purpose of threat, but entirely to protect the careers of the referees. As for the question regarding Kerem Ersoy, whom he was alleged to have threatened to end his career in the audio recordings, he did not answer on the grounds that the recording might be unlawful.

Financial Movements and Real Estate Purchases

When asked about money transfers between 2007 and 2026 according to MASAK data, Gündoğdu stated that these amounts consisted of official salary, retirement, TFF fees, and real estate buying and selling transactions. He noted that the transfer of 40.14 million TL made to Fidanlar İnşaat was the payment for two residences he bought for his daughters from the Ankara İncek Manzara Evleri project, and that these payments were met with inheritance and savings.
