The second Kaçkar by UTMB ultra mountain marathon, held this year in the Ayder Plateau of Rize's Çamlıhemşin district, took off with the participation of Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak.

Great Excitement in Ayder Plateau

The Ayder Plateau in Rize's Çamlıhemşin district is hosting the second international Kaçkar by UTMB ultra mountain marathon this year.

The organization, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and hosted by the Rize Governorship and Rize Municipality, allows athletes to compete on challenging tracks.

Category and Track Details

In this major organization, which is Turkey's first and only UTMB World Series event, athletes are competing in different categories: 100K, 50K, 20K, and 4K.

While the 100K track started at 04:00 AM with headlamps, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak gave the start signal for the 50K and 20K races.

Participation of Minister Bak and Protocol

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak stated that the marathon is of great importance for sports tourism and contributes to promotion of the region.

Minister Bak and members of the protocol also participated in the final race of the event, the 4K Ayder Run, sweating alongside the participants.

Environment and Climate Message

Rize Governor İhsan Selim Baydaş also emphasized the importance of the marathon for promoting the city and congratulated the institutions and athletes supporting the organization.

Participants of the 4K Ayder Run wore t-shirts carrying the message "We Run for Climate," drawing attention to environmental awareness and climate change.
