In Eyüpsultan, Selma Y., who worked as a pilates instructor as a sub-tenant at a gym, was beaten by a kickboxing coach who increased her rent.
Selma Y., a pilates instructor at a gym in Eyüpsultan, was beaten by kickboxing coach Gökhan Ş. following a dispute over a rent increase. The suspect, who was detained after the incident, was released following his testimony to the prosecutor's office.
Rent Increase Dispute Occurred
The incident took place on Tuesday, September 1, at around 5:45 PM at a gym in Eyüpsultan Göktürk Merkez Neighborhood. Sports instructor Selma Y. started working as a pilates instructor by renting a space from Gökhan Ş., who is the tenant of the gym.
Allegedly, an increase in rent was demanded before even 6 months had passed. Tension arose between the two parties due to the rent being raised from 25,000 Turkish Liras to 40,000 Turkish Liras.
Verbal Dispute Turned into Violence
Gökhan Ş. told the woman that the rent was 40,000 liras and that she could leave if she didn't like it. Selma Y., refusing to accept this situation, stated that she would continue paying the old rent until she found a new place.
As a result of this disagreement, Gökhan Ş. beat pilates instructor Selma Y. and dragged her on the floor. Following the scuffle, the female victim obtained a medical report for battery and filed a complaint.
Suspect Released
Gökhan Ş., who was detained by police teams following the incident, was referred to the courthouse after procedures at the police station and the prosecutor's office.
It was learned that the suspect admitted to beating the woman in his statement and expressed his regret. The suspect, against whom legal proceedings were initiated for the crimes of 'Intentional injury', 'Threat', and 'Insult', was released after questioning by the prosecutor.
