Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office targeting the Central Referee Board, Super Lig referee Yasin Kol was arrested on charges of match-fixing and incentive bonuses.

Investigation and Arrest Process

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office targeting the Central Referee Board, Super Lig referee Yasin Kol was arrested for the crime of match-fixing and incentives.

The MASAK (Financial Crimes Investigation Board) report detected remarkable money transfers between referee Yasin Kol and referees who served in at least one match, and a flow of money was determined between Kol and 64 bank counterparties.

Derby Matches and Financial Review

Yasin Kol's legal status, having officiated 6 of the 12 derby matches played between Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and Galatasaray in the last two seasons, has created widespread resonance in the sports public.

The money traffic and bank movements included in the Financial Crimes Investigation Board reports were among the main elements that deepened the scope of the investigation.

Legal Evaluations and Potential Effects

Sports Lawyer Anıl Dinçer stated that the allegations against Yasin Kol are very severe and that being found guilty judicially does not mean that the matches he officiated will be automatically canceled.

Dinçer emphasized that the retroactive cancellation and replay of suspicious matches is legally possible, but not easy in practice as it would lead to major chaos.

Sanctions and Expansion of the Investigation

It was stated that rather than canceling the leagues, it is probable to apply sanctions such as deprivation of rights, point deductions, and relegation to a lower league for individuals and clubs involved in the crime.

Additionally, it was expressed that it is legally inevitable for other referees whose names were mentioned in the MASAK report and who had money traffic with Yasin Kol to be included in the investigation.
