In the 5th minute of the match, Arda Güler, while advancing with the ball, was brought down by a harsh challenge from Atletico Madrid player Alex Baena.
Referee's Decision and Reactions in Spain
The match referee, Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias, whistled a foul for the incident but chose not to show a card to Alex Baena.
Former referee Iturralde Gonzalez stated that Baena's challenge from behind was a foul and should have been punished with a yellow card.
