A fire broke out for an as-yet-unknown reason in the sauna section of a private gym operating in Batman's Gültepe neighborhood. While smoke spreading rapidly engulfed the building, numerous teams were dispatched to the region upon notices from surrounding citizens.
Intervention Efforts by Teams
Fire department, AFAD, UMKE, and police teams were directed to the scene upon the notice. In a statement made by the Batman Governorate, it was stated that teams entering the building with special equipment due to the dense smoke covering the structure evacuated the individuals affected by the smoke and transported them to hospitals.
Identities of the Deceased
It was determined that those who lost their lives in the fire were Şaziment Sarıgül and Emine Yani, who worked at the Children's Homes Site affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. Gülsüm Öztekin Tunç, who was heavily injured and undergoing treatment at the hospital, could not be saved despite all interventions by the doctors and passed away, bringing the total loss of life to three.
Condition of the Injured and Investigation
Nine people injured in the incident were discharged following their treatments at hospitals. The judicial and administrative investigation processes initiated regarding the tragic fire are being meticulously pursued by the relevant authorities.
