Turkey Sports Economy and Industry Report Published

The Turkey Sports Economy and Industry Report, prepared by Deloitte Turkey, revealed data across a wide range from professional sports to local government investments, stating that the estimated annual spending volume of the ecosystem is approximately 181 billion TL.

Spending Volume of the Sports Ecosystem

Estimated annual expenditures within the scope of professional and amateur sports, national institutions, national teams, school and university sports, Paralympic sports, and e-sports reach approximately 81 billion TL.

When taking into account sports investments by central and local governments valued at approximately 100 billion TL, the total annual spending volume of the ecosystem rises to around 181 billion TL.

Club and Branch Economies

Football accounts for an estimated 75 percent of the professional club and athlete economy, which has a size of approximately 52 billion TL.

While the estimated size of the basketball economy is around 7.3 billion TL, the size of the professional volleyball economy stands at approximately 4.6 billion TL.

Women's Leagues and Amateur Sports

Women's leagues display a remarkable economic size, making up roughly 60 percent of the professional volleyball economy.

While the estimated size of the amateur sports ecosystem reaches approximately 10 billion TL, the number of students participating in school sports during the 2024-2025 academic term was realized at around 1.3 million.

Sports Tourism and Achievements

While the estimated size of sports tourism in Turkey ranges between 45 and 55 billion TL, it is estimated that 50 to 60 percent of the revenue in this field is generated from international visitors.

Turkey's historic 28 medals achieved at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games are shown among the strongest indicators of institutional and sporting development in para-sports.
