Family's Reaction After the Injury

Melek Gürbüz, a 16-year-old high school student who started practicing Muay Thai in Bursa, suffered an injury when her knee twisted during a training session. Following a two-month treatment process, her family asked her to quit the sport out of fear that the same injury might recur.

Continued the Sport Through Her Own Efforts

When her family refused to pay her gym dues, the young athlete decided to continue on her own. In her spare time outside of school, she worked at a clothing store. With the money she saved from working, she regularly paid her gym membership fees.

Success in Competitions

Returning to the ring with the support of her coach, Melek Gürbüz made a significant breakthrough by securing two championships and one second-place finish in the competitions she entered within six months.

National Team Goal

Drawing attention with her achievements, the young athlete stated that her biggest career goal is to represent Turkey in the ring wearing the national team jersey.
