Semiconductor giant AMD has announced the acquisition of World Labs, founded by Dr. Fei-Fei Li, in a deal valued at approximately $8.2 billion as part of its strategic moves in the artificial intelligence sector.

Details of the Acquisition Agreement

According to the official announcement by AMD, AI research laboratory World Labs is being acquired through an all-stock transaction.

This large-scale merger and acquisition, valued at approximately $8.2 billion, is projected to be completed by the end of the year.

World Labs and the Marble Model

Founded in 2024, World Labs quickly achieved a significant market valuation and managed to capture the attention of the tech world.

The startup launched its first commercial product, Marble, in 2025, enabling users to create interactive 3D worlds via prompts.

Changes in the Management Team

Following the completion of the agreement, co-founder Dr. Fei-Fei Li will serve as executive vice president and chief scientist within AMD.

In her new position, Dr. Fei-Fei Li will report directly to AMD CEO Lisa Su, and the World Labs team will continue its AI model research.

Hardware and Software Strategy

AMD management emphasized that this strategic acquisition will enhance hardware and software development capabilities suited to the needs of evolving AI models and applications.
