Apple is developing two different game controllers featuring its own hardware infrastructure for the Mac, iPad, and Apple TV ecosystem. Data discovered by developers within the macOS Tahoe 26.7 Release Candidate code confirms that the company is working on new devices with the code names T6502 and T1507.
Two different hardware architectures
Apple has offered software support for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo controllers for many years. The new code indicates that the Cupertino-based company will end third-party dependency and offer accessories bearing its own signature.
According to leaked technical details, both game controllers feature an ABXY button layout, clickable dual analog sticks, trigger buttons, shoulder buttons, and Home and Menu buttons.
Features of the T6502 and T1507 models
The T6502 model, which offers wired connectivity only via USB, does not feature a motion sensor, but the device is equipped with a four-channel advanced haptic feedback system.
The T1507 version, offering both USB and Bluetooth connectivity support, comes with built-in accelerometer and gyroscope sensors.
A new era in the gaming ecosystem
The presence of device references in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 code and their subsequent concealment indicate that the project is actively being tested. References to AirPods, a new-generation HomePod mini, and a smart security camera were also detected in the system code.
