According to the decree issued by the Prime Minister's Office, Can Tho University Director Associate Professor Dr. Tran Trung Tinh has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, and the decision has taken effect immediately.

Appointment Decision and Implementation Process

The Prime Minister officially issued Decision No. 1715/QD-TTg dated September 4, 2026, regarding the appointment and transfer of the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology.

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, along with the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Science and Technology, is responsible for the implementation of the decision in accordance with regulations, effective from the date of signing.

Education and Academic Background

After graduating from Can Tho University in 1997, Tran Trung Tinh studied in the Netherlands and obtained his master's degree in 2004.

Receiving his doctorate from Gyeongsang National University in South Korea in 2007, Tinh was awarded the title of associate professor in 2013.

Academic and Administrative Roles Undertaken

Throughout his career within Can Tho University, he served in various positions such as Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Technology.

Having also served as vice rector and rector at the university, Tran Trung Tinh was appointed as the Director of Can Tho University in May 2026.
